In preparation for a visit by author Neal Shusterman, the Reading Motivation committee held a poster contest to be used to welcome the author to Westfield.
Gauri Shah was selected as the winner of the contest and her poster was proudly displayed at the entrance to Westfield.
By winning the contest, Gauri also had the opportunity to be the first student to personally welcome Mr. Shusterman when he arrived.
Upon hearing of her selection, Gauri asked her teacher if one of her friends would also be able to join her to welcome the author.
Gauri described that her friend was a big fan of the author and an avid reader and although Gauri’s poster was selected, Gauri’s friend would be more deserving of being the first to meet Mr. Shusterman. Warrior and deserves to be recognized!
Gauri’s display of kindness and caring towards her friend, taking the time to design and create a welcoming message for our author, and showing the characteristics of a true Westfield Warrior.
